History of the Institution

The Federal University of Agriculture, Bassam-Biri, Bayelsa (FUAB) is a federal government-owned university established in 2023 as part of a national initiative to expand access to higher education and strengthen agricultural development in Nigeria.

The university is located in Bassambiri in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, within the Opu-Nembe Kingdom in the Niger Delta region. It was created to support research, teaching, and innovation in agriculture, environmental sciences, and related disciplines that are relevant to the ecological and economic needs of the Niger Delta.

FUAB was designed as a hands-on, research-driven agricultural university that integrates classroom learning with practical fieldwork, teaching farms, and industry collaboration. History of the Institution

Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED), Ondo, formerly known as Adeyemi College of Education, was established in 1963 to train qualified teachers for secondary schools and teacher training colleges in Nigeria. The institution commenced academic activities on 22 May 1964 with an initial enrollment of 93 students.

The university was named after Canon M. C. Adeyemi, an early educationist who contributed significantly to the development of education in the old Ondo Province.

Over the decades, the institution developed into one of the leading teacher-training colleges in Nigeria. It originally operated as a college affiliated with Obafemi Awolowo University, which enabled it to run degree programmes in education and related disciplines.

In 2023, the Federal Government of Nigeria approved the transition of the institution from Adeyemi College of Education to Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUE), allowing it to operate as a full university offering degree programmes across education, arts, sciences, and social sciences.

History of the Institution

Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, is a federal institution dedicated primarily to teacher education and academic training in various disciplines. The institution began as the Advanced Teachers Training College (ATTC) in 1963 in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. It was established to train qualified teachers for secondary schools and teacher training colleges across the country.

The college was later renamed Alvan Ikoku College of Education in honor of Dr. Alvan Ikoku, a renowned Nigerian educationist and nationalist who made significant contributions to the development of education in Nigeria.

In 2023, the institution was officially upgraded to a Federal University of Education by the Federal Government of Nigeria. This upgrade allowed the institution to award full university degrees while continuing its long-standing focus on teacher education and educational research.

Today, the university offers undergraduate programmes across several faculties and continues to expand its academic offerings in education, sciences, arts, and social sciences.

The African Aviation and Aerospace University (AAAU), Abuja, was established in 2022 by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.
